OMG so.
I was driving home and the moon was really bright and pretty so I started thinking about the tardis and Peter Pan and then I got this image in my head of Peter and the Lost Boys trying to commandeer the tardis and the 10th Doctor saying, “Oh, now isn’t this fantastic?!”, nudging a horrified Donna all while the Boys ran wild and Peter brandished a sword and snarled, calling the Doctor a codfish and whatnot.
Then all of a sudden I thought: Peter Pan is the Doctor.

Peter Pan never grows up, the Doctor can regenerate and so basically lives forever. The Doctor has his companions, his friends who travel time and space with him until something or another happens and he’s left alone again. Peter has the Lost Boys (who do grow up, if you’ve read the book) and has Wendy as a friend (or a mother) until she grows up, same with Wendy’s daughters Jane and Margaret and so on and so forth. The Lost Boys and Wendy and Michael and John are Peter’s companions.

AND THEN I had a new image in my head, because I remembered that in the book, Peter Pan had nightmares and in the book, Peter is really quite young, four or five maybe, and I could only imagine that he was having nightmares because he was remembering what it was like to be lonely, to go home and see his mother had a new son and he had been replaced. And I could see the Doctor in the tree house, cradling Peter in his arms and whispering, “I know, I know. They all leave. But me? Oh me, I’m never far.”
